Questions we are often asked
Straight answers about how we work.
Are you a real estate agency?
No, and we don’t want to be. We don’t list houses and we don’t work on a seller’s commission. We work for you, before the purchase and after it.
How do you charge?
We charge a fee for each task, whether it is helping you buy, refurbishing the house or renting it out, according to the time it asks of us. There are no supplier markups, and every referral commission we receive is disclosed to you in writing.
What exactly do you do?
- Tours, to understand where to buy: how a place looks out of season, what the health facilities are like, and whether the community, food, flights and tax terms match what you expect.
- The purchase: we assist you through every bureaucratic and non-bureaucratic step.
- The renovation: we are your eyes and boots on the ground for all the work, outside and inside, and we help you decorate.
- Renting: if you wish, we help rent out the house when you are not there.
Can I buy if I live far away?
Yes. That is the main reason Salotto exists. From far away, buying and refurbishing a house can become a nightmare; we help you through the whole process, with very transparent fees.
Can you manage the renovation while I am away?
Yes. We are on site for you, overseeing the work room by room through a network of vetted local artisans.
Where do you work?
We start in Civita di Bagnoregio and Lubriano, about 90 minutes from Rome’s main airport, where Francesca has lived for more than twenty years. Our tours also take in Tuscany, Umbria and Marche.
When are the next tours?
Our next group tours are planned for the beginning of 2027. We can also organise an individual tour whenever you ask. Dates and prices on request.
Which languages do you work in?
English, German and Italian.
